Artistic and Scientific Director

PROFESSOR DR STEFANIE BÜRKLE is an artist and has been Professor of Fine Art at the TU Berlin since 2009. Her artistic practice ranges from painting and photography to video and spatial installations. Art and research projects initiated by her explored topics such as “The City as Stage/Architecture as Scenography”, “Artificial Worlds”, “Facade-Space-Architecture” and “Migration and Space” – some of these projects were “Beirut Berlin” (a comparison of two cities after pision 1995/1996), “Berlin Wallpaper” (the Palace of the Republic for your living room, 2003–2005), “Loi chao tu Hanoi” (2007/2008), and the interdisciplinary project “Placemaking – Migration and the Fall of the Wall”, which was exhibited in 2009 in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, the Schering Stiftung’s exhibition space and in the Berlinische Galerie.

 

Scientific Cooperation

 

PROFESSOR DR EROL YILDIZ studied Education, Sociology and Psychology at Cologne University. In 1996, he received his doctorate in Sociology. In 2005, he completed his habilitation in Sociology at Cologne University, and was then a guest professor in Luxemburg, Munich, and Vienna and had visiting professorships in Hamburg and Cologne. Between 2008 and 2014, Erol Yildiz was professor for the research area “Intercultural Education” at the Alpen-Adria-University in Klagenfurt. He has been professor for the research area “Migration and Education” at the University of Innsbruck since March 2014. His main research areas are migration, persity, education and urbanity.



Artistic Assistant

VERONIKA BÖKELMANN, born in 1978, is a Berlin-based video and performance artist. She holds an MA in Performance Studies from New York University, where she had a scholarship from the DAAD, and before that studied at the University of Arts in Berlin and at the Norwegian Theatre Academy (NTA). She has been working as an artistic assistant on the “Migrating Spaces” project since 2013.


JANIN WALTER is a Berlin-based urban designer and artist. She studied Architecture at the TU Berlin and Space Strategies at the KH Berlin. She has been working as artistic assistant at the department of Fine Art at the TU Berlin 2010–2015. Since 2011, she has organised several seminars that dealt with the topic of migrating spaces. She has also worked for the Urban Catalyst studio since 2007. In 2013/14 she had a guest professorship at the RISEBA in Riga,Latvia. She has been working as artsitic assistant on the “Migrating Spaces” project since 2012.

 

Scientific Assistant

FULYA ERDEM was born in 1979 and studied Cultural Studies and Philosophy at the TU Berlin. She also spent periods abroad studying at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara and the University of Rennes 2. She wrote her masters dissertation on Michel Foucault and mechanisms of power. She has been working as a research assistant on the “Migrating Spaces” project since 2013.

 

Student Assistant


ILKIN AKPINAR studied Architecture at the TU Berlin. She has completed internships with Lena Wimmer and Adnan Yildiz among others. Since 2015 she has been working as student assistant in the Faculty of Fine Art’s research project “Migrating Spaces”.

 

AYSE DILA ÜNLÜ was born in 1989 in Istanbul. She studied Architecture at the TU Berlin from 2011. From April 2014 to March 2015 She has been working as student assistant in the Faculty of Fine Art’s research project “Migrating Spaces” .
